Matane, QC to Manic Cinq, QC
170 miles; cloudy with occasional light rain; temp in mid-40s
We took the 8:00 am ferry to Godbout on the north shore of the St. Lawrence. The trucks backed in first, then the cars filled in the spaces between. We had a good breakfast on board and arrived in Godbout around 10 am.
Route 138 on the north shore reminded me a lot of route 132 up and around the Gaspe Peninsula on south shore of the St. Lawrence, one my favorite rides.
The road would up and down the bluffs, surrounded with lush green forest, with the St. Lawrence often in the view.
We stayed at Manic Cinq for the night – there was a gas station and a restaurant along with the motel. This is the main stop for truckers on the highway from Labrador City down to Baie-Comeau. Our little room was warm and dry, a welcome relief from the weather outside.
