Professional career

I retired in 2010 after 35 years as a professor of social work, first at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and then at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, Case Western Reserve University where I am currently Professor Emeritus.

My teaching and research interests were in areas of practice evaluation, solution-focused brief therapy, family therapy, and ability-based learning. Prior to my academic career I worked as a psychiatric social worker at Kern View and Kings View Hospitals in California’s central valley.
