Our adventure trip this year will take us along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. We begin in Topsham, Maine, at the home of our good friends Paul and Linda Wilson, who will accompany us the first days of our trip. Our route will follow the north shore of the St. Lawrence River through Quebec province to the end of the road at Natashquan (#7 on the map), where we will board a ferry for a 2-day trip along the coast to the border of Labrador. There are 30 or so miles of paved road in that area of Labrador, and we expect to ride all of that in one day of exploration! Then we will cross over to the island of Newfoundland, a relatively short ferry ride. We will begin this portion of our adventure at St. Anthony, near the historic Norse village of L’Anse aux Meadows, perhaps the only instance of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact in North America. Then we will ride down along the western coast of Newfoundland to Gros Morne National Park where we will spend a day touring the park. We will continue south to Port aux Basques where we will take a 7-hour ferry ride to North Sydney, Nova Scotia, and then wend our way back through New Brunswick to Topsham, Maine.
